For state police officers Ethan Brandt and Gabriel Donnelly, life is one adventure after another. Whether they are sorting out their feelings for one another or helping right the wrongs of a society just starting to treat its gay citizens with something like equality, they face each challenge together.
In their debut novel, 2012’s Frat House Troopers, the troopers have been partners on the job for two years, each believing himself to be completely and totally straight. But when an undercover assignment forces Brandt to reach deep and find his sexy side, Donnelly suddenly realizes that he feels more than camaraderie for his partner.
The two men have a lot to work through as they begin to redefine their relationship. Along the way, they also have to redefine their notions of themselves.
Brandt and Donnelly’s story continues in 2014’s Wrestling Demons, in which the troopers are called upon to help high school wrestler Jonah Fischer with a sensitive problem: someone’s been recording him in the locker room and posting the videos online. This is embarrassing enough, but when one of the videos involves Jonah’s best friend Casey, the resulting scandal will test their friendship.
Whether it’s investigating crime or providing moral support, Brandt and Donnelly prove to be powerful advocates for the young men sorting through their crises if identity and their feelings for each other.
Published at the end of 2014, A Wedding to Die For picks up right after Wrestling Demons concludes, and you’ll get to see the troopers take their relationship to a new level. Marriage equality has finally come, and Brandt and Donnelly are once again on the front line, this time heading up a task force aimed at ensuring that the law is followed by businesses across the state.
When newscaster Gregory Sampson and powerful attorney Peter Laurence get engaged, they want only the best for their wedding. But the best baker and the best florist in the city don’t want their business, leaving them no option but to file a lawsuit. Brandt and Donnelly are asked to step in and calm things down. Nothing they’ve ever experienced as state troopers, however, has prepared them for the disaster that the wedding of the year becomes. They must find out who wanted to stop the wedding, all the while trying to plan their own!
Released in April 2015, Spring Break at the Villa Hermes takes place during one eventful week on vacation for the troopers. They hoped for a quiet getaway on the beach, but what they get is a chaotic, stormy, action-packed saga involving six regular college guys and the hijinks they get up to during their last spring break together. One of them, Ted, is trying to sort out his long-buried feelings for his roommate-since-freshman-year Bark; he’s surprised to find that Bark is also dreading graduation and the separation it will inevitably mean for them. But can they find a way to forge a new kind of relationship, especially since Bark is quite the ladies’ man?
Of course our troopers will lend a hand, but don’t worry—there are some private moments for them in this tropical paradise as well.
Just two months later, in June 2015, the fifth installment arrived from Dreamspinner Press. In Bachelors Party, you can follow the adventures of the troopers in the run-up to their impending nuptials. Before they can tie the knot, however, there must be a party, and who better to plan it than the fabulous Bryce—with some help from Brandt’s older brothers, Liam and Noah. But what kind of party should it be? And, perhaps more importantly, since Brandt’s brothers are straight, and Bryce and Nestor are about as far from that as anyone can possibly get, who gets to pick the strippers? It could be the glitter-covered train wreck of the year, but there’s no doubt it will be a lot of fun.
The troopers are on their way to the wedding of a lifetime in Destination, Wedding!, published in January 2017. When a volcano derails their travel plans, however, they find themselves separated by a continent, each trying to make his way to the church on time. Of course, they run into a series of complications, making some new friends along the way. And fans of Bryce and Nestor rejoice–our favorite shopboys get their own storyline this time! From California to New York to Madrid to Paris to Geneva, this is a double-length adventure that will have you rooting for true love.
